iOS 7 is officially here and, as you probably noticed, it’s quite different from Apple’s previous operating systems. The first thing you’ll notice is the design change. There are many other improvements that have been implemented, though. Here’s a quick look into some of the new features and changes on iOS 7:
One of the first things we noticed on the operating system is how to close down apps. Like former operating systems, you just have to double tap the home button to see which apps you have open. To close out of one just swipe up and the app closes. This feature on iOS 7 makes it easier to close out of an app and it allows ease of moving from one app to another.
If you’re like us, you were a little startled by your phone alarm the morning after you installed iOS 7. There are a bunch of new ringtones and alert sounds on the new operating system. To change these up, just go to Settings and then Sounds. If you don’t like the new sounds, you can change back to the classic alerts and ringtones.
This feature is HUGE in our book. It was such a hassle to go into the App Store to update apps. Seems like there were a bunch to do every day. With iOS 7, you can enable an auto-updating app feature. To enable this, go to Settings, iTunes & App Store, and slide the Updates button to on. If you want to know what apps have been recently updated go to the App Store and look under Purchased. It will tell you what apps have been updated and what date that occurred.
You can get to the Notifications Center by swiping down from the top on your phone. You may notice that the center looks a little different. If you want to see what you have going on for the day click on the Today section to see weather updates and calendar events.
iOS 7 now allows you to block numbers from texting, calling, and Face Timing you. To block a number go to Settings, Phone, and Blocked.
There is a new parallax effect on iOS 7. This means that the icons on your home screen move around as you move your phone. Not a fan of this? You can turn it off by going to Settings, General, Accessibility, Reduce Motion. Just slide the button to on and your phone won’t have the parallax on it.
There are many new features on iOS 7. We may not have discovered all them yet either! What’s your favorite iOS 7 feature?
