Yahoo is all over the news lately. From their CEO, Marissa Mayer, posing for Vogue to having more website visits than Google in July, Yahoo seems to be dominating our timelines and newsfeeds. Yahoo’s latest adventure, though, is the reveal of their new logo. They first started with their “30 Days of Change” design process where they revealed a new logo design every day for 30 days. Their new logo was finally revealed on Friday.
Over Yahoo’s “30 Days of Change,” they revealed a series of similar looking logos. All of them were in the classic Yahoo purple. The only thing that changed was their font. You can see a few examples from their “30 Days of Change,” below. The first is from Day 4 and the second is from Day 25. You can see the rest of the designs here.
And, finally, the reveal of Yahoo’s new logo:
Yahoo wanted to stay true to their roots, so they kept the purple with the exclamation point. The goal was for the logo to be whimsical. As you can see the font is thinner and the purple used is a bit darker than the original logo.
What do you think of the new Yahoo logo? Are you loving the design or do you think Yahoo should have chosen something different?
