Is Your Brand Dateable?

brandloveWe recently read a unique article titled “Would You Date Your Brand?”. It related how your brand is kind of a like a dating profile, and the article pointed out some things you should take into consideration when it comes to your brand.

The qualities consumers look for in brands are similar to those they look for in a companion. There are a lot of brands out there and consumers are faced with more choices than ever. How will you make your brand stand out? First of all, it needs to leave a positive impression. You need to ask yourself, “Would I date my brand?” If the answer is no, it’s time to change a few things. You also need to ask, “If my brand were a person, what would it be like?” Sit down and really think about your brand. Figure out its likes and dislikes. Who does your brand want to attract?

Like a dating profile, there are some things you need to avoid when it comes to establishing your brand. Rule one: DON’T LIE. Lying may draw attention, but this won’t last. Every good relationship starts with honesty as its foundation.

People like brands that match up with the values they have. What kind of customers do you want? Is your brand capable of drawing these people in? If this a no, you need to do what it takes to turn it into a yes. Because the truth is, if you don’t want to date your own brand, chances are other people won’t want to either.
