We’ve had a few posts over this topic already, but we just love talking about it! When it comes to posting on social media, you should show it as opposed to just saying it. We found some great statistics from an article titled “5 Ways to Incorporate Visuals into Your Social Media for More Clicks, Hits, Oohs and Aahs” that explain why posting pictures, infographics, etc. is the way to go.
- Visuals are processed 60,000 times faster than text.
- 44 percent of people are more likely to engage with brands if they post pictures.
- Content with images attracts 94 percent more total views on average than content without.
- Videos are clicked on 12 times more often than text posts and links combined.
There are many ways you can “show it off.” When you have a status update you’d like to share, find a picture that goes with it! It’s more than okay to search on Google and find a picture that will work. Take pictures with your phone at company events and upload them on the spot. If you have some statistics you’d like to share, make a graph or infographic out of it. To create an infographic you can use infogr.am. Also, don’t forget video! To keep up with our shortening attention spans, post videos that are short and sweet. (We don’t always follow this rule, but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do!) Occasionally, if it’s something you’re excited about and think it is important to share, it’s okay to post something a little longer.
The visual is key. Any time you can show it instead of say it, do it!
