Like many people, we love using Twitter. It’s a great social network with over 500 million users. If you want to increase engagement and become an influencer on Twitter, there are a few things you shouldn’t do.
1. Don’t overuse hashtags
Hashtags are great for providing keywords for people to search. In fact, a hashtag can lead to more followers who wouldn’t normally come across your account. Overusing the hashtag, however, can be dangerous. An article on Social Media Today says that using two or more hashtags in a tweet can lead to a drop in engagement. This means that you’re less likely to be retweeted.
2. Avoid tweet overload
Tweeting is fun, but doing it to much can be costly. Online experts suggest tweeting no more than eight to ten times per day. You should, however, tweet once or more per day to remain visible and reach your target audience.
3. Watch grammar and spelling
Be sure to proofread what you tweet. While Twitter is for casual conversations, studies show that Tweets with poor grammar and spelling don’t have high engagement rates.
There are many Tweet tips that will help increase engagement and keep you on top of your game. For more information on Twitter do’s and don’ts check out some articles we read on Social Media Today and Hashtags.
